In 2005, Richard Lowden, the founder and chairman of Green Motion vehicle rental, reacted to the global need to take genuine and positive action to play a part in reducing the effects of climate change and set about creating what is now the world’s first vehicle rental company which is kinder to the environment.
The concept of the organisation was very simple - to give its customers, both leisure/retail and business, the choice and opportunity to rent greener vehicles, thus reducing their CO2 emissions while benefiting from greater and improved fuel economy. In developing Green Motion, he identified a real niche in the vehicle hire and rent-a-car market to provide a greener alternative to customers.

We are now present in 60 countries worldwide - more than any other dedicated franchise brand. We work closely with each franchise to understand their culture, customer behaviour, and channels to market to constantly grow as a business and provide the rest of the network with this knowledge so they can succeed. We currently have over 600 locations worldwide, from fully serviced downtown locations, to hotel implants and fully chauffeured airport pick up points. We are already experienced in all areas from large central locations to smaller offices and so we have the skills, marketing and systems ready to go so you can hit the ground running.
We were the first international brand to introduce direct connectivity with OTAs and online travel brokers, putting its brand in reach of all global car rental customers. We achieved this via our dynamic pricing system, which ensured that our franchisees remained in complete control of their localised pricing with the online brokers, aggregators and OTAs. We now are now able to provide our franchisee's with access to over 50 brokers and OTA's, giving them instant access to a pool of millions of potential customers.
Our 100% franchised model allows us to be completely dedicated to supporting our franchisees and providing them with the necessary training, on-going support and advice, allowing each business owner the time to concentrate on the development of their local market.
